Review of PPM 100-4 Policy on Research Misconduct (Fabrication, Falsification, and Plagiarism)

Resources

November 21, 2025
Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation Corinne Peek-Asa has requested the Senate’s review of revisions to PPM 100-4 Policy on Research Misconduct (Fabrication, Falsification, and Plagiarism) (formally known as the Integrity of Research Policy and Procedures). Revisions are proposed to align the policy with the updated federal requirements on research misconduct, effective January 1, 2026. The key change includes separating the roles of the Deciding Official (DO) and Research Integrity Officer (RIO). The Inquiry process may also now be conducted by the RIO or a designee, supported by a Standing Committee of faculty members who may serve on Inquiry or Investigation Committees as needed.

A link to the proposal is provided in the Resources box. Faculty who wish to comment are welcome to do so. All comments received by December 12, 2025 will be included in the review materials for Senate Council consideration.
