Dear Colleagues:

Our first meeting of the 2019-20 academic year is scheduled for Tuesday, October 15^th at 3:30 p.m., in the Garren Auditorium of the Biomedical Sciences Building (1^st floor).  The Notice of Meeting (agenda) and all pertinent documents may be found at the following two locations:

1. On the Senate’s homepage under Assembly/Council Meetings, on the lower right side of the page.
2. On the Representative Assembly-Schedule page.

Executive Vice Chancellor Elizabeth Simmons will address the Assembly at this meeting, University Librarian Erik Mitchell will provide an Elsevier negotiations update, and former Divisional Chair Robert Horwitz will provide a Senate overview.  In addition, Graduate Council will present a proposal to establish a Five-Year Bachelor of Arts/Master of International Affairs (BA-MIA) Program, the Health Sciences Faculty Council will present a proposal to revise Divisional Senate Bylaw 503, Grading Policy–School of Medicine, and the Educational Policy Committee will provide an update on the policy on distance education courses.

If you are a Representative Assembly member and cannot attend next week’s meeting, please be sure to notify your alternate to do so in your stead.  Your participation matters.  I look forward to seeing you on October 15^th.
