Notice of Senate Election
January 19, 2021

Dear Colleagues:

In accordance with Bylaws 115 and 185 of the San Diego Division of the Academic Senate, notice is hereby given that nominations are open for the following positions and that the date of election will be Monday, May 3, 2021.

  • Vice Chair (Chair Designate) of the Division for a two-year term, effective September 1, 2021 through August 31, 2023. The first year will serve as Vice Chair and the second year as Chair of the San Diego Division.
  • Divisional Representatives (three vacancies) to the systemwide Assembly of the Academic Senate for a two-year term, effective September 1, 2021 through August 31, 2023.
  • Member of the Committee on Committees from a Health Sciences department, excluding the Department of Psychiatry and the Department of Surgery, for a three-year term, effective September 1, 2021 through August 31, 2024.
  • Member of the Committee on Committees from an Arts department for a three-year term, effective September 1, 2021 through August 31, 2024.
  • Member of the Committee on Committees from a Humanities department for a three-year term, effective September 1, 2021 through August 31, 2024.
  • Member of the Committee on Committees from a Science department for a three-year term, effective September 1, 2021 through August 31, 2024.

If you are interested in nominating yourself or another Senate member, please contact Ashley Welch at awelch@ucsd.edu to obtain a nominating petition. Nominating petitions are due in the Senate Office by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, January 29th. Please note that the nominee must be contacted by the Senate members signing the petition and must have agreed to serve the term if elected.

The following previously elected Senate members will continue to serve in 2021-2022. Divisional Chair 2021-2022: Tara Javidi (ECE). Divisional Representatives: Mariana Cherner (Psychiatry) and Juan Lasheras (MAE & Bioengineering). Committee on Committees: Guillermo Algaze (At Large - Anthropology), Eric Allen (SIO), Mary Blair-Loy (Social Sciences - Sociology), Elsa Cleland (Science - Ecology, Behavior & Evolution), Gail Heyman (Social Sciences - Psychology), Tajana Rosing (Engineering - CSE), Tamara Wall (Health Sciences - Psychiatry), and Rebekah (Becke) White (Health Sciences - Surgery).
