Issues Under Review

Dear Colleagues:

A systemwide review is being conducted to consider the following proposed revisions to the Academic Personnel Manual (APM):

• APM 285: Lecturer with Security of Employment Series
• APM 210-3: Instructions to Review Committees… Lecturer with Security of Employment Series
• APM 133-0-b: Limitation on Total Period of Service with Certain Academic Titles
• APM 740: Leaves of Absence/Sabbatical Leaves
• APM 135: Security of Employment
• APM 235: Acting Appointment

This is the second Senate review of the proposed revisions. The first occurred in the spring of 2017. A cover memo from UC Vice Provost Carlson with the background information, a clean version of the proposed changes, and two red-lined versions (reflecting changes from the first review to the second, and changes from the current APM to the second review) are posted under “Resources” on this page.

The timeline for the Senate’s consideration is as follows:

• February 2, 2018: Responses due
• February 12, 2018: Senate Council consideration
• February 21, 2018: Divisional response to Academic Council
• February 28, 2018: Academic Council consideration

All comments received by the response date will be included in the review materials for Senate Council discussion.
