Proposed Revisions to UC Presidential Policy BFB-RMP-7, Protection of Administrative Records Containing Personally Identifiable Information

Dear Colleagues:

A systemwide review is being conducted to consider the proposed revisions to UC Presidential Policy BFB-RMP-7, Protection of Administrative Records Containing Personally Identifiable Information.

The key issues are described as follows.

  • Combines and updates BFB-RMP-7, Privacy of and Access to Information Responsibilities; BFB-RMP-11, Student Applicant Records; and BFB-RMP-12, Guidelines for Assuring Privacy of Personal Information in Mailing Lists and Telephone Directories.
  • Incorporates the UC Statement of Privacy Principles and Values.
  • Clarifies the roles of Privacy Officials, Records Management Coordinators and Information Practices Coordinators.

The review materials include a cover letter from VP Andriola and redlined and clean copies of the proposal. Each document is bookmarked. A link to the review materials is provided in the resources box.

Faculty who wish to comment are welcome to do so. All comments received by November 19, 2018 will be included in the review materials for Senate Council consideration.
