Vice President for Research & Innovation, Theresa A. Maldonado, has requested the Senate’s review of the proposed Presidential Policy on the Use of Animals in Research, Teaching, and Testing. The revised policy reiterates the University of California’s commitment to the highest ethical standards in the conduct of its research by applying and promoting humane, responsible animal care and use in its research and teaching activities. The proposed policy updates the current Use of Animals in Research and Teaching Policy.
A link to the policy is provided in the Resources box. Faculty who wish to comment are welcome to do so. All comments received by January 31, 2025 will be included in the review materials for Senate Council consideration.
