Policy Regarding Conjoined Courses

Conjoined courses are two related courses at different levels (i.e., undergraduate and graduate) approved to be taught as a single course, scheduled for the same room and time. Students may take one but not both. Although the courses share lectures or laboratories, the courses must be distinct from each other in performance criteria, requirements, and goals. Evaluative differences alone (in examinations, problem sets, performances, etc.) are not sufficient; there must be academic differences as well. A graduate course must include an additional project or other activity that calls upon advanced skills (research, creativity, analysis etc.) that are not expected in an undergraduate course.
